RPTs™ undergo rigorous training, including extensive coursework in child development, psychotherapy theories, and play therapy techniques. They complete hundreds of clinical hours under supervision, ensuring they are well-equipped to address complex emotional and behavioral challenges. Additionally, RPTs™ adhere to strict ethical standards set by the Association for Play Therapy, ensuring high-quality and professional care.  While counselors using toys may provide valuable support, they may lack the depth of knowledge and strategic application of play therapy techniques that RPTs™ bring to their practice. RPTs™ use play intentionally as a therapeutic tool, tailoring interventions to meet each child’s unique needs and fostering meaningful growth. Play Therapy services for children begin at age 2; for parents, developmental parent training can begin during the prenatal period and is available through adolescence.
