Rural Texas Psychoeducational Services, PLLC
RTX provides compassionate, personalized support to children, families, and caregivers through counseling/psychotherapy, comprehensive assessments, consultation services, and educational guidance. As a private‑pay practice, we are intentionally structured to offer responsive, boutique‑style care—prioritizing accessibility, individualized attention, and a deep understanding of each family’s unique needs. Supporting families in a holistic and integrative manner is central to our mission, helping children and caregivers thrive both at home and in school.
Whether your family is navigating emotional or behavioral challenges, seeking clarity about learning needs, or trying to understand a complex school system, RTX is committed to empowering you with the tools, insights, and advocacy you need for meaningful growth and success.
Explore our website to learn more about evidence‑based Play Therapy approaches and the benefits they offer to children, parents, and adults of all ages. Working with a Registered Play Therapist™—especially one who is also a Certified AutPlay Therapy© Provider—offers unique advantages for neurodivergent clients, including those with Autism, ADHD, OCD, Tourette’s, and learning or developmental differences.
RTX also provides comprehensive evaluations for children needing diagnostic clarity related to ADHD, Autism, learning differences, cognitive or developmental concerns, or behavioral challenges. Assessment scheduling availability and report turnaround times are significantly shorter than the 18–24 month waitlists often seen in large clinics and metropolitan facilities. Contact us to discuss your goals and how an assessment is tailored to meet your child’s needs, rather than developed as a "standard battery of tests" as is done in most testing centers and school systems.
Paula A. Lyssy brings nearly 30 years of experience as a licensed school psychologist, counselor, and facilitator serving districts across South Texas. She supports families seeking Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs). She understands the nuances of school‑based services, eligibility criteria, and the advocacy support parents often need to build partnerships with schools and understand educational rights and limitations of school-based service requests.
As a state board‑approved (BHEC) LPC‑Supervisor and experienced LSP, Paula Lyssy also provides supervision for LPC‑Associates and School Psychology students pursuing licensure. Training for schools, community agencies, daycares, Head Start programs, and private organizations is available upon request.
